512KB Club
TechI've applied for membership in the 512KB Club, as I've done with my prior site.
What does that even mean and why is it important?
While I appreciate websites that are full of design elements or numerous details, there's something attractive about sites with a minimalist design. There's an art to keeping a site (or blog) simple, neat, and free from bloat. The 512KB Club was created to acknowledge efficient and performance-focused web pages that exist in an ocean of sites that are littered with poor designs and unoptimized code. If approved (and I anticipate I will be) I'll be able display the relevant badge, below:
The green team is for sites with a total uncompressed size of less than 100KB.
The orange team is for sites with a total uncompressed size of less than 250KB.
The blue team is for sites with a total uncompressed size of less than 512KB.
At the time of this post, my site is just over the 250kb mark so, I'd qualify for the Blue Team badge.

Ultimately, there's no intrinsic value to meeting the 512KB Club's requirements. It's simply a way to share that you're making an effort to keep your site or blog tidy and optimized.
